This is where we ate tonight!
See ! This is us walking in !!
This kitty was waiting outside for us when we left
He posed for several pictures !!
Jon & Jen update !!
We'll we made it to the Eiffel Tower in Sunday, really pretty views from the second floor but then we got to to the top and it was 40-50 mile winds.... We basically stepped out for 20 seconds, looked around said ok we're good let's head back down! It was a little scary!
After that we took a walk to a restaurant in the Rue Cler neighborhood (next to Eiffel Tower) and took the metro back to the neighborhood for one more drink and people watching. The metro is awesome here--I think we've waited at most 4-5 minutes for a train and there are stops everywhere!
Monday we went to the Montmartre neighborhood, visited Sacre Coueur and climbed to the dome (second highest point in Paris!). From there we metro-ed to Champs Élysées and did the two-mile walk to the Arc de Triomphe. There is a place here call Laduree, I haven't heard of it but apparently it's a super popular bakery/restaurant?? Guess I need to check into that.... From here we metro-ed back to Ile de la Cite (by Notre Dame) and had some beer and crepes outside (they set up heaters by the tables!). Walked back to the hotel, and them out to dinner that night at Le
Cremerie-Restaurant Polidor, it's been around since 1845 and serves French "comfort" food--it was really really good! Early to bed Monday night, so we could get up early for Versailles the next day!!
So Tuesday we did Versailles, it was huge!! We did a tour of the king/queens private rooms at 9:30am, then grabbed a quick bite for lunch and then off to tour the gardens and the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon. It took us about 40 mins just to walk from the chateaux to the grand Trianon (the king/queen's "summer castle") and that was just one path of the gardens! We walked around the Petit Trianon (a getaway castle just for the queen) and her Hamlet--Marie Antoinette basically had an English Village built complete with a farm so she could live the simple life :-) so we got to see goats, cows, sheep, roosters, donkeys, pigs! We made the long walk back to the chateaux to finish the tour... We didn't get out of there until about 4:30, grabbed the train back into Paris and had dinner back in the neighborhood (Italian!) :-)
Today it's off to the Louvre and Galleries Lafayette to check out the mall.... We are officially getting tired!! Only one more day to go though.... These two weeks are going fast!
Normally I would add photos of everything they are doing but in doing so, it's creating havoc on my blog page....so.....no pictures....sorry....
We on the other hand, had a wonderful day. Bob did more work on the boat and I did my usual cleaning. We didn't make it out for our sail; it was a bit windy?! We did however, make it to dinner and had I had a Queen portion of prime rib while Bob went for the gusto King !! Boy was it good !!
After dinner we came straight home. All the food made Bob and I very tired!! Glad we came back when we did because we had one heck of a storm roll through here, and again, and again, and again.
