20 miles north of Charleston, SC

Us leaving this morning
Gary is passing a shrimp boat behind us
Very eerie out there and very STUPID!!

At one point Bob pulled out of the channel and just
sat because he couldn't see anything....

Gary behind us....you can't even see
the shrimp boat at this point....and the whole
time he was behind him

What is this?

Finally the sun starting to come up!

You can finally see the fog starting to lift

Getting better !

Wow!  What a couple of hours mean!
See the two bald eagles at the top of the tree?
There is one to the right of the one
that is obvious...in the middle of the
picture

This is a different guy!

Me fishing....or at least trying!

This blackbird just decided to land and motor
down the ICW for a while....

Abandoned house we saw last year :0(

Gary & Bob watching for dolphin!

There's one !  See it !!
Come on, I blew the photo up
just so you could see it!!

There is another dolphin to the right
of Gary & Jayne's boat....I don't even see it myself
at this point, but I know it's there!!

Another abandoned house literally in the water
Gary & Jayne are thinking about buying it!! :0)

Our anchorage spot for the night

Bob still enjoying the early evening hours (and the
mosquitos) before retiring for the night!

Needless to say it was a little hairy leaving this morning.  Of course when you actually leave your anchorage site, unless you are out in the middle of the water, you don't realize how foggy it is until you're out in it!  At one point we could hear people talking but had no idea where they were.  We think there was another boat ahead of us??  We ended up using the fog horn a couple of times just to let people know we were around.

Once the fog cleared it turned out to be a beautiful day!   We saw several bald eagles (3, I think) traveling the ICW this morning.  We are stopping at one of my favorite spots on the ICW which is about 18 miles N of Charleston.   At this anchorage, we are nestled in cut outs of sea grass, but we can see 5 miles in all directions.  This place was littered with dolphin last year....this year...not so much.  But Gary & Jayne spoke with the motor yacht people behind them and they said they were coming out around 10 a.m. so we will be staying in the morning.  In fact, Bob and I are spending another day here while Gary & Jayne go into Charleston tomorrow.  We are really hoping to play with dolphins tomorrow!

I did pull Bill's (MRYC) fishing rod out today, using Derek's (Riverwatch) bait and my new fishing line to lure some fish onto the rod.  Didn't work.  No fish fry tonight!

Georgetown, SC

A little foggy this morning when we left

But still beautiful pictures

Grandeur on the ICW

This part of the canal was a little "hairy!"
It's called the, "Rockpile!"

Waccamaw River, SC

Gary's coming

Construction work being done on one of the
bridges we need to go under

What a beautiful day!

Still cutting grass here!

I'm with Captain Bob....between him and the
speed at which our boat can run....
I'm always "Resuming Safe Speed!"

Small part of river and this boat decides to pass us,
he didn't know the big boy was comin' around
the bend...made for lots of rockin' & rollin'
for us!

See the serpent?  See all the turtles???

Me enjoying the ride!

Bob "counting" turtles....he stopped at 176 turtles
knowing next year he would have to break his record!

Coming into Georgetown, SC

Inside where we dropped anchor for night

Jayne & I

This is where a couple of buildings burned down
recently...The towns people want to make sure everyone
knows that, "they are still alive and thriving...come on down!!"

Jayne & I sitting on Main St.

Isn't he the cutest Jack!

He's saying "That's right...look at me!!"

The clerk is holding another Jack that was under
the counter.  He started poking his little head out when
he heard the other one getting so much attention!

Paper mill spewing stuff on the left; the Steel Mill
to the right.  Us anchored off to the right with Gary
and Jayne

Bob & Gary enjoying life!

Georgetown Dock

Our anchorage spot for the night

Bob showing me a trick with a dime....see him
holding it in his right hand...or left depending on how
you're looking at him!

Now he's doing his trick!

Now how did he make a dime into 2 pennies!!!

Gary & Jayne toasting to a beautiful sunset and day!!

Another great day on the water.  It turned out to be so beautiful.  I actually had to put on suntan lotion!  Yeah for me!!  Ever since the sun has come out my cold is gone.  It's like the sun "baked me well!"  It was nice being able to get off the boat and to walk into town on such a beautiful day.  All the locals are always so friendly.  Our anchorage spot isn't as quiet as most of our past ones have been, with the Steel Mill right behind us, but like Gary said "it's only for one night" and not only that....the mill actually sounds like the ocean at night time with a train SCREEEECHING once in a while!  :0)

Our morning sunrise as we are leaving our
anchorage

Just be thankful I only put 2 on the blog...I had about
12 pictures I wanted to put on!

Look at the smile on his face!  Now that's one
happy Captain....left driving in his robe this
morning!!

USCG working on something here??!!

Now that's a lot of bird poop!

See the red magenta line going across?
That's South Carolina!  It's already getting warm!

Me trying to get a shot of the dolphins!
Bob trying too also, but gets me instead?!

Well at least somebody got it!

Hummm......I think he may have had the same
problem last year!

Sun setting in Calabash, SC....right at the
Carolina borders

Check out our rainbow....

Different view of our anchorage

Calabash Anch #2.jpg
The red X is where we anchored...Calabash Creek
is just north of Myrtle Beach.
The dotted line is the NC/SC border.

Another great day on the water.  Bob left driving in his bathrobe this morning which made him a very happy man!  Originally we were only going about 30 miles but it turned into such a beautiful day and we reached our original spot around 11 a.m. we decided to go another 30 miles.  There is a long canal coming it and not a lot of places to drop the anchor. So since we went the extra miles yesterday we will be getting into Georgetown, SC around 4 p.m. tomorrow.  We may or may not spend a day there.....just down the road from there is our favorite anchorage spot of all....that is where the dolphins come in for feeding and are all over the place....last year we dropped anchor and immediately jumped into the dinghy and went and played with them for awhile...so we will definitely be going there!

We went to Gary and Jayne's for dinner tonight.  Boy was it wonderful!  They have a slow cooker on the back of their boat and they cooked some ribs on it for about 3 hours before serving them up hot and tender to us for dinner!  Then my favorite comfort food, macaroni & cheese AND roasted potato's....it doesn't get any better than that!  They are into the world series and we're not....so they are getting ready to watch the game and Bob and I are getting ready to hit the hay!  After all, it is 7:30 in the evening!
