Lynn is out with a cold)

We're actually in Camp Lejeune Marine Base, North Carolina
tonight!  And the amazing thing is we didn't have to show any ID!
The Marines dredged a little lagoon for traveling
boaters as it is quite far from Morehead City to Wrightsville Beach
(well, they use it for training, but they're nice enough to let us use it).
When you travel 8 mph it takes awhile to get anywhere.
Thanks, US Marines!

So this is a shot of the Marines having some fun on the Base.
I didn't take this shot, but I wish I was there,
riding in this huge ATV!

A nice little selection of million dollar sportfishes!

Snug as a bug in a rug on a tug with a mug!
That terrible 4 letter word!
COLD !!
Jeeze, in the 30's when we pulled anchor.
Hey, enough is enough.

Lynn's project for the day!
Chemistry Student!
It's time to separate the good stuff from the
really good stuff!

She has a whole bottle of fused vodka and
a bonus cup left over!

She figured out that I really like the Tito's vodker
so she's trying to stay one step ahead of me by
putting basil in it!  It smells like underarm deodorant!

A renovated fishing/shrimp boat.
Was going north.
I really don't understand!

Birds on a little island sunning themselves.
They're not wearing any clothes but they appear
to be warm!

Today, my friends, the Bays were littered with dolphin!
They were popping up everywhere!
A few went under the boat just when our bow
got to them.  I was hoping they would ride our
bow wave, but we just go too slow for them.
They love to play!

It's hard to get a shot of them as our camera is
just too slow.  When they pop up and look at us,
we snap the shutter, but it's just too late.

Sweet house with all the toys!

Just as sweet.
Just not as expensive!

This guy figured it out, though.
Buy a waterfront lot............
Bring your RV, build a shed to keep it under,
and put a bazillion solar panels on top of it to
run everything on your RV without starting
your generator or running 120v power!

Entering Camp Lejuene
Stay on your boat.
Do not get off.
If you do, walk gently.
All of the signs said:
"Unexploded Ordnance,
Don't Be a Fooo"

Kinda cool!
Target practice!

The Marines jettison old stuff, then shoot it up
along the ICW while on boats.
Cool, really cool stuff
(for guys, anyway).

Nice sunset, aye?
Lynn's in bed.
I have rum.

Our neighbors from Maryland.
I don't know where, I just saw the Maryland flag
on one of the sailboats.

Okay, this is what happens when I start drinking rum.
I thought a sunset photo through the binoculars
would be neat.
The sunset tonight is all blurry!

And this is what happens when Lynn is not around
to stop me from drinking more rum.
Look at the dolphins that jumped in front of our
boat today!!!!! (credit, "Marine Photo Labs", CA)

Whoa!  Great day.  Cold.  But great day.  We yanked anchor at 0625 in the dark.  I studied the path out last night so we only had 20 minutes until first light and felt confident while boating blindly.  I was in full-dress, battle fatigues; long underwear, jeans, bibs, 3 shirts, jacket, face mask, hat, life jacket (it actually adds some warmth too).  This will soon all be over with on Sunday.
It's cold, cold all day........

We hit the ebb tide just perfectly.  We actually got up to 9.4 knots (10.5 mph)!  Smokin', I say, smokin'!  We caught the right tide all day and averaged 8 mph.  The dolphins were everywhere!  Waterfowl in the marshes bazookaed small fry all around us causing quite a stir.

We got to Camp Lejuene at 1330 hours and had an immediate nap attack (I know we've been traveling 9 days now as I have had 9 naps).  Up at 1700 hour for some refreshments.  Lynn tackled a salad and then went back to bed.  I, on the other hand, studied the sunset with the Admiral and OJ.

The only bad thing that happened today, besides almost running aground, needing to change the starboard side fuel filter, being cold, having my nose run, almost running aground again, and being cold, was that while filling the fuel tanks with 5 gallons of diesel in each tank (what we used all day), the o-ring from the can top fell off from the cap.  It bounced on the deck twice, and jumped into the water.  It was like it couldn't wait to get off the boat.  If he's leaving me, I'm glad he drowned!

Aloha!
