Laundry day in Marsh Harbor
It only cost us $48 to do 6 loads of laundry
I can't wait to get back to Grand Cay, at least there
they wash, dry and fold for $50!
Never saw a laundry mat outside I don't believe!
Outside facilities
Today was a good day. Got lots done. More than expected actually. I went through the whole boat and donated what Bob says was "60#'s of stuff" to the local Bahamians. Anything I haven't worn or used in the last year went! Lots of pots and pans, clothes, shoes, belts, dishes, books, etc. gone, gone, gone! The woman we gave everything to worked in the kitchen of the Jib Bar which is where we are anchored. She was involved in a fire in 1997 where she almost lost her 4 sons. Then there was another one in 2003! She said she knew many of the people who were homeless and was very grateful for everything we gave her. Any donations she gets she takes to her pastor(s) and they deliver the items to the most needy.
You know I can't really complain about the laundry costs. $48 sounds like a lot but six loads of laundry is also a lot. It sure feels good after getting it all done! The humidity here is very high and everything feels damp at times, including clean and dirty laundry. So when I pull it out of the dryer, and it smells so clean and fresh, it's like a little piece of heaven!
Tonight we were supposed to go over and see a "Rake 'n' Scrape" band (musicians beating on the goombay drum and scraping a carpenters saw) but they were a no-show or we misunderstood what the bartender told us. So we went across the way to see where all the music was coming from. When we got there, there was only about 5 people in the bar, so we just turned the motor off on the dinghy and drifted around listening to the music while finishing our drink. Very nice night.
