One of the reasons you don't travel at night is because
of what you can't/don't see. A barge came through here
one night and struck a green navigation light. No more light!
Fort Sumter is a Third System masonry sea fort located in
Charleston Harbor, South Carolina. The fort is best known
as the site upon which the shots which started the American
Civil War were fired, at the Battle of Fort Sumter on
April 12, 1861.
This is Fort Sumter from our "birds-eye" view
Passing through Charleston, South Carolina
One of our passing buddies on the ICW
Anchorage area for Charleston
Lovely homes on the ICW
Oh look! We had to leave our "favorite place"
to see a dolphin!
Trumpe!
My Captain is working hard!
Adding fuel while I drive....although he did have
me slow down considerably! He said he would rather
fall in at 6 knots rather than 20...I agreed!
Now he's letting the water out of the dinghy from
the storm we had the other night. Randy texted me
and told me it was coming. He was right.
Bob is not the only one working today. You['ll notice
the blue cover on the "genny" behind the chair on the
floor....that's right, I made it!
Oh, and let's not forget the "sausages"....I recovered
both of them today also! They sure look a lot better!
Now this is some low tide!
We are literally churning up mud as we go through
this area....there was no looking at the chart plotter for
this area. Just watch the water depth and try and
find water!!
Even the crab pots could use some extra water!
This guy is stuck
This power boat is offering to wake him to
try and get him going again
Tug a lug down the ICW
This is probably the longest tug we have ever seen
Another one behind the first one!
Our sunset coming into Beaufort, SC
We left our "favorite place" aka "Dolphin-less City" at the break of dawn. Not only did we go 81 miles but we also got a lot of work done today. In fact, I was so impressed with myself that I told Bob "If I don't get anything else done before we come back in the spring, I would be fine with that because of all the work I did today!" He laughed and said "No, I don't think so...you obviously haven't seen my list lately!!"
We got into Beaufort, SC around sunset and settled for the night. Gary & Jayne were already here, gone to town and did some sight seeing, had a drink on the water front and were back at there boat waiting for us to get in. So once we settled, we went over to their place and shared a pizza for dinner! Tomorrow we leave and start heading south again....
