A barge struck another navigation marker
This marker is just falling apart. The Georgia
Army Corps of Engineers and Coast Guard was
not allotted enough funds for repairs, hence some
poor maintenance. We must always be vigilant as
we don't know if markers will be there or not or if
lights will be out.
A small 25ish foot boat going north
The guys stores his bicycle on the outside
of his boat.
The lighthouse at one of the sounds right on
the Atlantic Ocean.
The bridge of Brunswick, GA.
We don't go under it, just by it.
A 38 foot Leopard catamaran came down from
Brunswick and got in between Dream Catcher
and us. Bob called him and he was from Cleveland,
Ohio on his way down to the Bahamas and then
the Caribbean.
Sub!
Right off the ICW!
There was only one Navy patrol boat watching
out so that no boats came too close. It didn't
seem like enough protection.
Fishing as we go past the ship repair facility.
A dolphin went by us.
I didn't catch anything today.
A couple of large supply ships at the yard.
Our neighbor last night
She is so huge even at slow idle she
still left us with a wake!
Bob guessed $1.5 million at least.
What's important about this picture is the
lamp in the background! The ambiance of the
light is so relaxing....Bob and I will have something
very similar to this in our near future!!
A 57 mile day, we made good time due to the favorable currents. St. Andrews Sound, between Jekyl Island and Cumberland Island, GA was pretty rough. Bob had to head further out into the Atlantic Ocean partially into the waves or they would have hit us on the beam too hard. Then after we turned we had relaxing following seas.
We anchored next to the public dock at Cumberland Island so tomorrow we can go onshore to see the ruins and wild horses. Jayne made a chicken pot pie to kill for and I made Snickerdoodle cookies which Bob would have killed anyone for. My bread didn't make it. It fell and the bread maker went cold, then hot. We don't know what happened. We will do a research loaf tomorrow.
